Literally meaning skyward<\/i><\/b>, El Al flies to over 48 destinations across five continents. Since its inaugural flight in September 1948, the Israeli airline has played a central role in Israel’s humanitarian rescue efforts, airlifting over 160,000 refugees from Yemen, Iran, Ethiopia, and India throughout history.<\/p>\n
To me, El Al and Israel are synonymous. The company has been operating since the State was established. The official Israel airline carries a unique local atmosphere you don’t feel on any other commercial carrier. From the pilots, the flight attendants, the food, and even down to the flag’s blue-white colors, the feeling is genuine Israeli throughout.<\/p>\n
First time birthright visitor <\/a>or experienced travel, it does not matter – we all travel to Israel to experience the amazing history and authenticity of this holy land. It only seems fitting to travel on an authentic Israeli airline. Though they aren’t always the cheapest to fly (check out my cheap flights to Israel <\/a>\u00a0for a detailed listing), I’ve found the airline suits my travel needs perfectly.<\/p>\n

- Do book your tickets as far in advance as possible as the fares usually only increase.<\/li>\n
- Do sign up for Matmid, El Al’s frequent Flyer program if applicable. It offers special promotions for frequent fliers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Don’ts:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

- Don’t plan to fly El Al on any Jewish Holiday<\/a> including Shabbat as they do not operate during these times.<\/li>\n
- Don’t do anything to provoke or arouse suspicion from security personnel. El Al takes security very seriously. They have been placing undercover security personnel on their flights for years even before 9\/11.<\/li>\n
- Don’t arrive late for your flight. It will take you some time to check in and go through security screening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
