The Sachne is a national park that consists of a beautiful oasis pool fed by underground natural springs located in the Lower Galilee next to Beit Shean.

For me, it is simply paradise. I have been there three times already and each time, I enjoy it even more. The water is clear blue and always a constant 28 degrees C (82 F) so it is refreshing almost year round. The pools are surrounded by palm trees and lush green lawns that make for a full day of picnicking, playing, and relaxing.

Check out this amazing video from our last trip:

If you take a walk along the river then you will come across an old gristmill, which was used in the past for grinding flour, and has been reconstructed and is now active. Another interesting place to visit just 10 minutes walk along the river is the museum of Tel Amal – a reconstruction of one of the first Tower and Stockade settlements with its residential structures, kitchen and dining room. Here you can see how the first kibbutzim were settled in the hostile environment and how communal living existed in the early to middle 1900’s.

Sachne – Out Top Tips and Recommendations

  • If you don’t like it crowded, I would recommend staying away during July and August. This is a time when many Israelis take their work vacations. Most recommended time to visit is Oct/Nov whilst its still warm and April/May in very early spring/summer. The water is the same temperature all year round.
  • Come early and get the best spot to spread out. Most people come with their own food and barbeque most of the day.
  • Fridays and Saturdays tend to be particularly crowded.
  • Dont leave your personal items unattended.
