For the experience of a lifetime, make your next Israel vacation one you will never forget.
Many destinations offer interesting sites and activities, but Israel packs a secret punch of history, spirituality, and much, much more. As the country’s breathtaking sights burst with heritage, delicious Mediteranean cuisine and unique landscapes, the experience of visiting Israel is emotionally intense, staying with you long after you are back home.
I do have a bit of a confession. I started this site partly as an excuse to keep coming back 🙂
In the summer of 2005, I arrived in Israel with my family to celebrate the Bat Mitzvah of my daughter Naomi. I remember the experience like it was yesterday. The celebration and genuine feeling and connection to the country made me feel like I was home. I truly did not want to leave. Two years later, almost to the day, we made Aliyah in the summer of 2007.
Israel affects people in different, unique ways. Obviously, not every visitor ends up moving to the country, but when the subject comes up in conversation, everyone I speak to talks about coming back for another visit some day.
Israel Vacation Tips and Recommendations
- Decide how much time you want to spend on history and the religious sites versus hiking, beaching, relaxation and leisure
- Standard tour packages might overlook certain aspects of the country you want to explore. For example, if you’re into geology, you won’t want to miss the Negev desert. Many tour packages only squeeze in a couple of days in Jerusalem, but archaeology buffs might want to spend an entire week in this 3000 year old city. Make sure you pick the right one for you. I recommend a private tour guide.
- If you visit over the hot summer months, always carry an ample supply of fresh drinking water with you. Dehydration is a common hazard, especially if you’re coming from a colder climate. I keep a case of water in the trunk of my car at all times.
Top Tip – Make the most of your vacation in Israel by taking the time to not only see the sites, but feel the history and the unique energy of the country. Don’t try to squeeze too much into a short period of time. It is better to visit fewer destinations and take more time to appreciate each and every one. You can never do it all in one trip. I am confident that you will return.
Another fantastic venue for an authentic Israel vacation are Israel cruises. Cruise ships sailing the eastern Mediterranean or on cruises between the Mediterranean and Red Sea sometimes include ports of call such as Haifa or Tel Aviv. Cruise lines porting in Israel include Azamara, Celebrity, Holland America, Oceania, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Seabourn, and Silversea.
A diverse mix of people from around the world come to visit Israel for different reasons. I have witnessed people from all religions, cultures, and nationalities visiting Israel.
I am sure that your vacation in Israel will be a memorable experience. Many people even refer to it as life altering. I hope you experience the beauty and unique qualities that the country has to offer on your vacation of a lifetime.
